Sports and its benefits on children and teenagers

A. By nature children love to play and playing, jumping, running, are indications of a healthy child, means he or she is free from any serious health problems. Playing is a good exercise for children. It helps them grow; it keeps them stay fit; also it builds their strength and stamina. Teenagers also love to play, and according to medical science, teenagers who take an active part in sports or games are not only physically fit, but also mentally and psychologically stronger than the stay-home counterpart.
B. Often parents, especially moms restrict their children from playing with local boys or girls and keep them confined in their house, assuming that the local boys are ‘bad’ and their children should not mix and mingle with them. Some moms, even do not allow their children to go to clubs or participate in any sort of sports and games, in apprehension that they might get injured. So, what happens to this kids or teenagers? They stay at home watching TV or playing Video games for hours and eating snacks, chocolates, and fast foods. Eventually, these kids and teenagers become overweight, unsocial, disobedient, in short, they become ‘spoilt brats’.
C. A study says children who actively take part in sports and games are less prone to take drugs or alcohol and usually they don’t skip schools. Teenagers who play any team games like Football, Table Tennis or Cricket, do not get enough time to study to become toppers. However, as their concentration levels are found to be higher than stay-home and non-playing teenagers, they managed to maintain good academic performance and be social enough compared to their stay-home counterparts.
D. Children and teenagers who are regular participants of sports grow with strong muscles and sturdy bones. Their immunity is found to be much better, and their immunity system of the body is found to work extremely well. Teenagers who play Basketball or Volleyball grow with good heights. Those who learn ‘Martial Arts’ or ‘Boxing’ become strong both mentally and physically. It is observed by the scientists that, teenagers participating in physical activities before and during puberty get good bone mass enabling them to have stronger muscles and bones in the future.
E. Moreover, children and teenagers who are physically active, never caught in the grip of obesity which is a major concern in today’s society. Also, such children are full of energy and less prone to diseases like high blood sugar, heart problem, etc., of course with a few exceptions here and there. Physically active children/teenagers possess better cardiovascular endurance, thus lowering the chance of suffering from heart diseases, the most dangerous but common disease across the globe. Active teenagers also have better lung functions, possess higher strength and stamina.
F. Children and teenagers who are active participants in team games like Soccer, Cricket, Rugby or Baseball, learn to work as a team member. Thus their social interactions and other skills like leadership, teamwork and sharing responsibility grow up and make them a complete man. Teenagers who participate in sports or games on a regular basis, especially in team games, learn to take responsibilities, they become aware of self-esteem, their confidence grows with time. They become disciplined, and their perseverance grows, they become mentally tough to face all challenges in real life. Sports and games help the teenagers/children learn to cope up with adverse situations on and off the playground, in real life they become supportive to others. Also, they learn to sacrifice and even after retirement from active sports and games, the sports persons have found to possess a more positive attitude towards life.
